My Soul Tattooed In Black Introduction

This will begin a series of posts with the same name. I'm currently working on a series of manuscripts on varying topics and plot lines. I figured it would be interesting to leak different parts of the beginnings of the books, see what kind of reactions I get...

So without further ado welcome to the world of Tholos...

Origin Myth of Tholos

It is said that there was nothing before Astridore. No one can remember a time without Astridore. It is assumed she created everything and would always rule as god of Tholos, a god who lived among men. It is said she built Krisa in a day. She was adored for being a benevolent ruler and instilling a respect and love for all things.

There came a time when the citizens of Tholos were no longer improving on their own, thinking Astridore would provide for their every need. Astridore decided Tholos needed new rulers. She made two twin powers, already mature and fierce in their purpose.

Pronoia, with thick inky hair and skin that shone like gemstones, could read the future on her skin and was quick to impart justice on those deemed a threat to the future of Tholos.

And Pythia, with copper hair and golden skin shone in the sunlight, had a bright smile and gentle nature that brought her the country’s love easily. The twins were liaisons between Astridore and the people of Tholos after Astridore retreated into the shadows of our history.

As time went on the twins established the two ruling families of Tholos. Pronoia became matriarch of the del Fee family, who protected the Temple of Astridore. While Pythia became the first ruling Queen and started the royal line, Arethusa.

The Arethusa line was golden in countenance and proved to be generous and merciful rulers. As generations passed the golden countenance has stayed the same and as long as an open link to Astridore can be found in the Queen the family will continue to rule with her benevolence.

Pronoia’s children were originally much like her, with glittering skin and ashy hair, but as the generations went on prophecies stopped appearing on everyone’s skin. Soon only the women born into the family had inky hair and heard Astridore’s voice, thus having the ability to tattoo the future onto their family’s skin.

As long as both families have a link to Astridore Tholos will not fall into Chaos that we cannot see.

May the mercy of Astridore continue to flow through the blood of her legacy and protect Tholos and its people for the darkness that is her Absence.
